Our youngest youngster of 2009 had his first adventure out of the stall this morning. We had planned to take him out yesterday but some big thunderstorms rolled in and gave us some heavy rain and it was just too damp for the new baby. Anywho, here he is!
The lack of proper framing and poor focus is totally my fault...sorry!
After all his exercise, it was time for a nap.

The older foals are growing up...
Whenever you (or I) go out in the pasture, Amelia takes "little" Louie for a romp so that you can admire her beautiful colt by Avebury WF.
He is a pure Watermark Farm product of several generations on both sides of his pedigree - http://www.paardenfokken.nl/pedigree.php?horseid=427650
The scope and elasticity of his gaits is mind boggling. Combine that with his gentle and sweet nature...and, well, we couldn't be more pleased!
Not to be outdone by her cousin is our darling first born of 2009, Dolce Elise WF.
She is maturing nicely at one month of age. As her name implies, she is quite sweet and very interested in the person in her space - whether it be the stall, pasture or just, well, anywhere she is! :)
When I went into the pasture to take pictures this afternoon, Drummond WF was busy with his nap...
Once he decided it was time to get up, he took a leisurely stroll in my direction and then followed his mother for a more ambitious bit of excercise!
Such a character!

Last foal at WF arrives!
Our last foal of 2009 arrived just before 11PM last night! Sabrina has produced a lovely, typey dark bay Waldaire colt!
He is going to need a W name that has an association with a celebrity...so send me your suggestions! :)
He is very conservative in appearance when compared to his full brother Wolfgang WF...

Eventing news
Sally was over yesterday afternoon and had a lovely jump school on Adelaide WF (Karin's beautiful girl). Sally is fresh from another win and a second down at the Virgina Horse Trials in Lexington. Congratulations Team Cousins!!!
Sally & Kitty (As You Wish WF) have an outing to the Waredaca Event this Sunday. Mom and Dad will go along and hopefully have time enough to use a camera this time. But no promises as they are working with Team Cousins to help keep Sally's day running smoothly.

High praise from abroad
Every breeder is wary of becoming barn blind and overly self important when it comes to their horses, right?
Well, I sent a couple of photos of the 2009 foals along to our friends Dorit & Hermann Kothe in Germany...here is what Dorit had to say -
"What for wonderfull foals! wonderfull is not enough- the bay one is super -but the black I have no words... Congratulation from Hermann and & Dorit"
So I suppose that means Aloysius, Dolce Elise and Drummond get the stamp of approval from the international breeding community! :)
There is also a possibility that Dorit might come visit us here in the states later on this year! How exciting would that be????

Photos of our three babies!
So the babies have names!
Dolce Elise WF (Dressage Royal x Savannah WF) DOB: April 27, 2009
She is known as Dolce around the barn and quite aware that she is _very_ important!
We finally decided on a good name for the black colt - Aloysius WF (Avebury WF x Amelia WF) DOB: May 19, 2009 It is our homage to A.A. Steiert who imported his ancestor Abundance in 1965! Louie is quite the little mover and just a delight each day. :)
The littlest colt is no longer so little! Drummond WF (Dressage Royal x Abracadabra WF) is getting the hang of his long legs and almost ready to join his agemates out in the big pasture for each day. We picked this name as it means 'Druid's hill' - thereby playing on the magic theme for Emmy's offspring.
We are still waiting for our last foal of 2009! Sabrina WF (Savannah's full sister) is expecting a Waldaire colt or filly in the next week or so...Keep checking back - you guys know I'll post pictures as soon as the baby arrives! :)

Babies on the way for 2010!
Our first confirmed pregnancy of the year award goes out to the May family! :) They should have a bouncing baby Waldaire in the early part of April 2010.
Congratulations! And keep checking back for more updates on who's expecting for next year!

Farm Policy Alert
This has been sent to the webmaster, so expect to see it on the website shortly on the News & Events page -
Effective Immediately
If you have a scheduled lesson and cancel with LESS than 24 hours notice, you will be charged 50% of your lesson fee. There are exceptions of course as life can get in the way of the best laid plans - family crisis, pet emergency, sudden illness, etc. but there are many students who are trying to schedule lessons on the same day(s), so if you cancel, chances are that someone else would have used your time slot and/or school horse on that day.
We try to accommodate everyone who wants a lesson but are unable to do so with students failing to notify Anne or Ellie of schedule changes.
Also, in order to maximize your time with Anne - if you have a 2:30 lesson - that means you need to be here, on your horse, ready to go at 2:30. Likewise, if you have a 1:30, please do not come at 12:45 and expect to move ahead in the order of go.
We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Baby photos!
Savannah and Dolce are old hats at this turnout thing...cruising around the whole big pasture like it no big deal. Tomorrow they will have Amelia and her little colt with no name (I'll nag at you guys later on in this post) joining them for the first time.
Emmy (Abracadabra WF) and her colt had their first adventure out in the small pasture today! He is quite a star already...Dressage Royal really hits it out of the park with each and every foal!
Avebury's colt needs a NAME!!!!
Any votes on Alain or Alastair??? Come on you guys help me out!! :)

Another Dressage Royal foal arrives!
And he's not chestnut!!! We seem to have broken our streak of all chestnut foals somehow! Mind you, there is still one yet to arrive and that mare is 3/5 for chestnuts...so I'll get one yet this year!
Abracadabra WF (Emmy) had a lovely big bay colt with a hind stocking and front socks with a star similar to Don William's just after 1:30 AM today!
More photos as he unfolds!
Name suggestions are needed with this fellow - it needs to be a D and related to magic. Her other foals are Wakanda, Wizard, Whodini, Dreamcatcher...

Avebury's colt photos - 14 hours!
Just some photos of the 'little' colt on his first adventure outside the barn!
We are debating a couple of names - Alastair (defender of the people) or Alain (little rock)...it is yet to be decided! Just remember Avebury is a small town in England that has a stone circle that is 3 (or is it 4) times the size of Stonehenge and Amelia is one who strives to excel or achieve great things...
He even tried out a bit of trot with those long legs! :)
