Group foal video

It was actually NOT raining a few days ago, so we shot some video of all the foals out at pasture.

So, while it is not a formal presentation of the babies, the video gives you a bit of insight into their personalities and temperaments. :)

Everyone now has an official name for showing purposes and an around the barn name, too!

Dolce Elise WF is best known as Dolce but most of you already know that as she has been with us for over a month now. Wow! May went by quickly, don't you think???








Aloysius WF is better known as Louie.








Drummond WF is better known as Dru. It can be hard to distinguish who's who when looking at Dru and Dolce as they are a similar color and have similar markings. However, one is all BOY and she is a grown up, mature lady (most of the time), so it helps if they are in close proximity to one another. Then you can watch their mannerisms and that really helps... :) It is certainly safe to say that Dressage Royal stamps his offspring as these two look like peas out of the same pod.





And Wilson WF is most definitely Wilson or Wil around the barn. He is really coming into his own...just a solidly nice fellow with super angles and a delightful personality. He was an absolute star while his momma got her feet tended to the other day, quietly observing the procedure and very quiet about the whole situation. Such a good boy!












Kitty is off to Plantation Field's June Horse Trials with Sally tomorrow. I'm the driver/groom for the day, so the video camera and digital are going along as well. Check back for images and footage late tomorrow night!

So mom and I took the time 'middle' foals out for a spin with their mommas in the outdoor late this afternoon. :)

Aloysius WF (the Avebury colt) had a blast showing off his awesome trot, canter and walk...he is just dreamy. No other way to put it. *blissful sigh*

Drummond WF had to cover some turf to keep up with his mother who was happy to take off in her 'Working Horse' gaits...poor little fellow is just 11 days old - he had to go some to keep up with her!

Waldaire offspring news

Barbara MacKnew was kind enough to send these photos of her 2007 Waldaire x Aly Alice xx gelding Willow LG. He is in full training with Alyssa Peterson and making excellent progress!






He certainly has grown up into a lovely big fellow! Congratulations and good luck to Alyssa and the MacKnew family with their handsome boy! :)







Whistfull (Waldaire x Hope xx), a 2006 filly, is also embarking on a competition career! She is schooling low courses and jumping with good style and scope for her rider/trainer Winter Paxson. They are slated to head out for their first competition this coming weekend and I have been promised photos...so as soon as they arrive on my desktop, you guys will get to see them! Winter spoke with me on the phone a few weeks ago and was praising Whistfull for being such a good worker - apparently she strives to do exactly what you ask of her and to the best of her ability. Her dam Hope (Babamist x Jacmel by If Only) is being rebred to Waldaire for a 2010 foal as they are so pleased with this filly.

Waredacca Results!

Congratulations are in order for Sally!

She had a 3rd and a 4th in Open Intermediate B with Troy & Tell Me Why. Her other horses all had excellent outings. Our As You Wish WF had a clean stadium and clean cross country. Her dressage test was riddled with 7's but as the footing was questionable on Sunday, Sally rode a conservative test and her final score reflected it. However, Kitty finished the day with all her shoes, so we are quite pleased that she had another successful outing finishing on her dressage score with no additional penalties.

Sabrina's Waldaire colt outside at 30 hours!

Our youngest youngster of 2009 had his first adventure out of the stall this morning. We had planned to take him out yesterday but some big thunderstorms rolled in and gave us some heavy rain and it was just too damp for the new baby. Anywho, here he is!


















The lack of proper framing and poor focus is totally my fault...sorry!

















After all his exercise, it was time for a nap.

The older foals are growing up...

Whenever you (or I) go out in the pasture, Amelia takes "little" Louie for a romp so that you can admire her beautiful colt by Avebury WF.

The scope and elasticity of his gaits is mind boggling. Combine that with his gentle and sweet nature...and, well, we couldn't be more pleased!













Not to be outdone by her cousin is our darling first born of 2009, Dolce Elise WF.
She is maturing nicely at one month of age. As her name implies, she is quite sweet and very interested in the person in her space - whether it be the stall, pasture or just, well, anywhere she is! :)





















When I went into the pasture to take pictures this afternoon, Drummond WF was busy with his nap...











Once he decided it was time to get up, he took a leisurely stroll in my direction and then followed his mother for a more ambitious bit of excercise!

Last foal at WF arrives!

Our last foal of 2009 arrived just before 11PM last night! Sabrina has produced a lovely, typey dark bay Waldaire colt!


He is going to need a W name that has an association with a celebrity...so send me your suggestions! :)









He is very conservative in appearance when compared to his full brother Wolfgang WF...

Eventing news

Sally was over yesterday afternoon and had a lovely jump school on Adelaide WF (Karin's beautiful girl). Sally is fresh from another win and a second down at the Virgina Horse Trials in Lexington. Congratulations Team Cousins!!!

Sally & Kitty (As You Wish WF) have an outing to the Waredaca Event this Sunday. Mom and Dad will go along and hopefully have time enough to use a camera this time. But no promises as they are working with Team Cousins to help keep Sally's day running smoothly.

High praise from abroad

Every breeder is wary of becoming barn blind and overly self important when it comes to their horses, right?

Well, I sent a couple of photos of the 2009 foals along to our friends Dorit & Hermann Kothe in Germany...here is what Dorit had to say -

"What for wonderfull foals! wonderfull is not enough- the bay one is super -but the black I have no words... Congratulation from Hermann and & Dorit"


So I suppose that means Aloysius, Dolce Elise and Drummond get the stamp of approval from the international breeding community! :)

There is also a possibility that Dorit might come visit us here in the states later on this year! How exciting would that be????
